A historical Taste
Mead is a honey wine believed to be the first alcoholic beverage consumed by humans. While, mead has gained popularity recently, it's still not half as common as grape wine and other sorts of alcohol. Portland Mead is a brand that seeks to compete with canned wines and hard seltzers in the casual drinking space.

Filling a Niche
To bring mead to a wider audience, the design and language used are more akin to canned wines and Arizona teas. The aluminum bottle was chosen for its simple shape and screw lids. The hexagonal pattern alludes to the beehives wherein the honey is made. A vibrant palette lends a fun energy that contrasts to the fanciful, muted tones one might find on a bottle found at a meadery.
